Chaplin, a biomusical about the silent film star Charlie Chaplin, book by Christopher Curtis and Thomas Meehan, music and lyrics by Christopher Curtis, directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, will preview from August 21st at the Barrymore Theatre, with an official opening on September 10th. The producers are producers Bob and Mindy Rich, Roy Gabay, and John and Claire Caudwell.

After a break of 3 years, Forbidden Broadway, the legendary revue lampooning New York theatre, created, written and directed by Gerard Alessandrini, is to return, from July 17th at the 47th Street Theatre, located at 304 West 47th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues.

The Active Theater will stage Jennie Contuzzi's Body Language, a dark comedy about a woman who has spent her two year relationship trying to become the person she thinks her boyfriend wants her to be, and is desperate to reveal her true self, but fears his rejection if all of her secrets are exposed, with Tim Barker, Christian Campbell, Lucy Owen, Jeb Kreager, Frank Deal and Mary Jo Mecca, directed by Nathaniel Shaw, previewing from May 25th at The Workshop Theater, opening on May 31st. The Workshop Theater is located at 312 West 36th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues.

LCT3, Lincoln Center Theater's initiative dedicated to presenting the work of emerging playwrights, directors and designers, will stage Ayad Akhtar's Disgraced, set at a dinner party hosted by a successful Pakistani-American lawyer, who is moving up the corporate ladder while distancing himself from his cultural roots, where events get out of hand, directed by Kimberly Senior, previewing from October 15th in the new Claire Tow Theater, on the roof of the Vivian Beaumont Theater, opening on October 22nd.

New York Classical Theatre will stage free performances of William Shakespeare's romantic comedy of mistaken identities Twelfth Night, set in New York City in 1900, Thursdays to Sundays at 7 pm from May 31st to June 24th in Central Park, near Central Park West and 103rd Street, and Tuesdays to Sundays at 7pm from June 26th to July 22nd at Castle Clinton in Battery Park.

Untitled Theater Company #61 will stage The Lathe Of Heaven, adapted and directed by Edward Einhorn, from Ursula K Le Guin's sci-fi classic about a man whose dreams change reality, with verses from the Tao Te Ching as operatic art songs, music by Henry Akona, with Robert Honeywell, Caroline Saaman, John Gallop and Eric Oleson, playing at 3LD Art + Technology Center, from June 6th. 3LD Art & Technology Center is located at 80 Greenwich Street, at Rector Street.

Jim Henry's 7th Monarch, a mystery that reveals dark personal secrets of a mathematical genius, with Michael Rupert, Michael Cullen, Gretchen Hall, Leslie Hendrix and Matthew Humphreys, directed by Scott C Embler, will preview from June 12th at the Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row, opening on June 24th. The producer is the Somerled Charitable Foundation. Theatre Row is located at 410 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues.

13th Street Rep will stage Rudy Gray's Conversation With A Kleagle, set in the 1920s, when a black Chicago journalist, passing for white, travels to the deep South to interview a Kleagle, a recruiter for the Ku Klux Klan, directed by Robert Hunkele, previewing from May 16th, opening on May 23rd. 13th Street Rep is located at 50 W 13th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues.

Rusian Arts Theater & Studio will stage the premiere of Eurasian Invasion! Rats In Repertory, a 4 week season at the Connelly Theater, comprising Fred Pezzulli and Di Zhu's House Of Curiosities, adapted from the cautionary tales of Roald Dahl, with Danusia Trevino, Jawiga, Don A Carlos, Michel Chahade, Snezhana Chernova, Gordon Kupperstein, Yael Dray-Barel, Robert Freedman, Cordis Heard, Michael Donaldson, Mindy Luce, Stass Klassen, Kellen Lopes, Andy McCutcheon, Flavio Romeo, Barry Schneider, Aya Shapovalov, Natalie Solomonov, Charles Sprinkle, Di Zhu, and Marius Zilberstein, opening on June 11th; and Aleksey Burago and Di Zhu's Billy Bob Boils The Sea, adapted from a Chinese fairy tale about two angels banished from the heavens for falling in love, with Natalya Rudakova, Ariel Polanco, Charles Sprinkle, Irina Yemialyanava, and Di Zhu, opening on June 12th, both directed by Aleksey Burago. The Connelly Theatre is located at 220 East 4th Street, between Avenues A and B.

The Moose Hall Theatre Company's Inwood Shakespeare Festival will present free outdoor performances of William Shakespeare's pastoral comedy As You Like It, directed by Ted Minos, from June 6th to 23rd; Donizetti's opera Don Pasquale, directed by Gina Crusco, from June 27th to 30th; and the premiere of The Golem, Heart Of Light, Mind Of Darkness, a tale of mysticism, hope, humour and horror, written and directed by Ted Minos, from July 18th to August 4th; plus Animal Tales Of Wisdom, featuring children's stories, on July 30th. The productions will be performed Wednesdays to Saturdays in Inwood Hill Park Peninsula, entrances at West 218th Street and Indian Road, and Isham Street and Seaman Avenue.

Foxhole Entertainment will stage Andrew Rosenberg and Ean Miles Kessler's King's River, which tells the intertwining stories of individuals living in a small town in the American South, with Gwynneth Bensen, Jasmine Carmichael, Ean Miles Kessler, Mara Gannon, Tim Giles, Ruffin Prentiss, Andrew Rosenberg, Terrell Wheeler and Landon Woodson, directed by David Delaney, previewing on May 23rd at Medicine Show, opening on May 24th. Medicine Show is located at 549 West 52nd Street, between 10th and 11th Avenues.

The York Shakespeare Company will stage Sam Shepard's True West, in which two very different brothers meet up and battle their demons, with Ginger Grace, Paul Rubin, Patrick Terry and James Sayess, directed by Seth Duerr, previewing on June 8th at Theatre 54 at Shetler Studios, opening on June 9th. Shetler Studios is located at 244 West 54th Street, between Broadway and 8th Avenue.

The Rumour Machine says: that the Public Theater's Shakespeare In The Park production of the James Lapine-Stephen Sondheim musical Into The Woods, in which characters from a number of fairytales don't live happily ever after, with Donna Murphy and Amy Adams, based on the award winning 2010 Regents Park Open Air Theatre London production, directed by Timothy Shreader and Liam Steel, may transfer to Broadway after the season at the Delacorte Theater; and that Zooey Deschanel will star on Broadway in a stage musical adaptation of the 1980 Loretta Lynn biofilm Coal Miner's Daughter, courtesy of producers Fox Theatricals and Scott Sanders Productions. The Rumour Machine grinds on.
